Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his position after a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received significant backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with performances so bad.”

He finished, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to where it needs to be, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
