Renowned Performer Pat Finn, Known For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Dies at 60 Years Old.
US actor Finn, who appeared in beloved TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in LA this Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, as reported by media reports.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives said in a announcement.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
A Notable Career on Screen
Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.
He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.
During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on several well-known programs, like:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
He was most recognized for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.
His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Away from his television work, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe called "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared publicly.
Pat Finn is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
