Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
